CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: As a church, we are cooperating with the local government and health leaders and will not be gathering for the next few weeks. However, Portland Kids will continue to provide resources for your kids to continue to grow in their faith. This week’s lesson is called Why do we take communion??

We are passionate about creating an atmosphere where kids experience God in a way they won’t forget. Parents, you have the freedom to worship in the main service while your kids are safe and secure praising God, meeting new friends, and learning God’s Word each week. Our goal is to give kids a strong foundation in God’s Word as we pour into them the truth that Jesus loves them and has an awesome plan for their life!

Why do we take communion?

Kids Church Comes to you!

Hello friends!
Everyone still hanging in there? Things feel different, that is for sure…but different doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I’m noticing so much more quality time as a family, more dinners around the table, and deeper conversations because our schedules are wide open. Although the unknowns can be unsettling, don’t forget that this came as no surprise to God. He’s is in control! Since we can’t be together in person for awhile, we are committed to bringing Kids Church to you each week. Since our staff is working from home, it will literally be live from MY living room to YOURS! There is also going to be a weekly activity you can do with your family. We’re in this together friends!

Updates –

We will be live streaming the 10:30 AM. worship services again this Sunday. We will not be gathering in the building to help keep our most vulnerable population healthy. Follow this link to tune in on March 29! Watch

Wednesday night programming is also on hold until further notice.

How to Serve our Community –

As a church, we want to remember those in the community that is being affected by COVID19 in different ways than we are. The unsheltered and vulnerable populations are in need of our tangible care and prayers. Some practical ways we can help might be:

    1. Since retirement centers are  not accepting visitors, consider sending flowers to brighten someone’s day
    2. Make a card and send to elderly relatives, friends, and neighbors
    3. Make a prayer board so it’s a daily visual
    4. Donate to a food bank
    5. Email or reach out via social media to one of our Missionaries to let them know that you’re praying for them

Most of all, give yourself grace during these uncertain times. This is new uncharted waters for all of us and we’re all working hard to figure things out. Family and healthy living come first!

I can’t wait to see all of your faces in person, but until then, we will continue to virtually come to you. We want to keep in touch, so please don’t hesitate to drop a hello if you need support or simply a sense of community. Also, please email me any prayer requests that you have for your kids or family. Our staff meets together every morning to pray and intercede for every need that we share. We are here for you!

Be safe & well,
Pastor Heather

Parent FAQs

It’s my child’s first time attending Portland Kids. How will they know where to go/what to do?

At Portland Kids, we LOVE our guests. At our manned check-in stations you will find a friendly host who can help you to input your child’s information, get your security tag/name badge & navigate you to the location of your child’s class. For first time guests in Kids Church they receive special acknowledgement and Bible Bucks to buy a prize at our store for being our first time guest.  From the minute a child arrives at Portland Kids to the minute they are picked up to go home, we want to make sure they have the most fun and easy experience possible.

My child is attending a service with a friend/family member who is in a different age group. Can they attend together in the same venue?

Because our curriculum and services are geared to best fit the age group being taught, we encourage kids to attend the service in their appropriate age venue. However, if a child is uncomfortable attending alone, they may attend service with a friend or family member; we just ask that both children attend the service for the youngest child’s age group. This allows both children to fully understand and engage in the lesson being taught.

If I choose to attend one service and volunteer a second service at Portland Christian Center, what will my child do during the second service?

There are many parents who participate in more than one service. Our 9:00AM experience meets together and breaks off into different small groups. Our 10:30AM experience meets corporately and has a different format and content. This allows for a child to attend both services keeping them engaged during the entire morning.

As a parent, can I be my child’s classroom teacher?

Many parents are involved with their children in Portland Kids, and our team is always excited to welcome new volunteers who love pouring into the lives of their children. If you would like to become more involved, learn more about the steps to becoming a Portland Kids volunteer HERE
