The prophet Isaiah lived in similar times to ours: Israel’s military was expanding, the economy was growing, culture was progressing, but on the horizon, enemies to peace and prosperity bred fear and anxiety in the nation. While on the surface, things looked bright, the prophet referred to it as a time of darkness. Yet out of darkness Isaiah prophesied the coming of a Messiah who would be a guiding light. He would be our Wonderful Counselor, Might God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. In this message today, let’s explore what the first of these gifts of Christmas, Wonderful Counselor, means to us at a personal level.
